Mary Lee Bragg lives in Ottawa with her husband, poet Colin Morton. Her poetry and short fiction have been published in Ascent, Grain, the Windsor Review, Queen’s Quarterly and ezines in Canada and the US. She has published a novel, and two chapbooks of poetry. Her first full poetry collection, The Landscape That Isn’t There (2019) was short-listed for Ottawa’s Archibald Lampman prize.
These powerful poems in Mary Lee’s second collection, Airplane Earth, don’t shy away from exploring the darkness of war, planetary destruction and a “foreseeable apocalypse”. Equally at ease with more personal themes, she describes the story of her naming, the importance of family and her experiences during pandemic lockdowns. Her razor-sharp wit and search for common ground, “even the non-believer must believe/ in something,” combine to create a collection that is deeply-felt and riveting.~ Doris Fiszer, author of “If I Were a River”
