Mermaid Tears is a soulful book of poetry about parenthood, personal identity, and finding one’s own place in this complicated world.

The poems in this collection draw inspiration from both the modern world (the news, places, and events the author experiences) and from the depths of Jewish tradition.

The author, Rabbi Suzanne Brody, is the Director of Education and Youth Programming at Temple Beth-El in Ithaca, NY. She is a graduate of Wellesley College, has a PhD in neuroscience, and received rabbinic ordination from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles, CA in 2012.

Throughout all of the stages in her life’s journey, Rabbi Brody’s passion for innovating new ways to share a love of learning about and doing Judaism has found outlets in creating dynamic programming for Jews of all ages. She has worked in both formal and informal educational settings and has designed and taught numerous adult education courses with an emphasis on the stories of infertility found in the Jewish tradition and the treasures she finds in the pages of the Talmud.

Suzanne is the author of two previous books of poetry, Dancing in the White Spaces and Etz Chayim She: Modern Poems Grown from Ancient Texts and numerous scholarly publications.
