Author’s Note
A Split in the Water was my first book of poetry, published in 1979 by Fiddlehead Poetry Books, University of New Brunswick.  It went out of print some time ago.  Throughout, the copyright remained with the author. 

I was reading through the book recently and decided to revive it and have it available for sale in the worldwide market place through Silver Bow Publishing and Ingram Worldwide Distribution.

It is 99 ½ percent the same as the original… the only changes, are some punctuation and line breaks and a few, very few poems culled..

Fred Cogswell, a pioneer on the Canadian Poetry scene,  was the editor of Fiddlehead Poetry Books and a founding member of the League of Canadian Poets. I am forever grateful to him for believing in my poetry.  Had he not published this book I may never have continued down the path of poetry and would never have become Poet Laureate Emerita of New Westminster, BC CANADA.  Thank you Fred !.    ~ Candice James
